DUMPLING WORLD TOUR - Japanese Gyoza

DUMPLING WORLD TOUR - Japanese Gyoza

Welcome to the dumpling world tour, pls join me on a trip, first stop JAPAN. Gyoza are my fave dumplings to make, they are perfect to make with friends, little ones or alone… when there is much on your mind. I tend to take the third option and am literally a professional gyoza maker, so follow this recipe for dumplings almost as good as the ones I make (and sell to u lol).

* Recipe makes around 30 dumplings

INGREDIENTS:

  • Gyoza Wrappers (I used Evergreen brand in the video, you can buy at Woolies)
  • 500g pork (the fattier the better boo)
  • 1 ½ cup cabbage
  • 1 cup chives
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tsp minced ginger
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp white pepper

Making the Filling

  1. Place all ingredients in a bowl (except gyoza wrappers, duh) and mix THOROUGHLY, make sure everything is well combined pls.

Folding the Dumplings <3

  1. Take a spoon of fulling and place in the centre of your dumpling wrapper.
  2. Wet your finger and trace it along the top half of the dumpling wrapper
  3. Fold the dumpling in half and pinch at the top, make three pleats along each side of the dumpling OR if this is too hard for your newb hands just seal the dumpling in half.
  4. Repeat until all your filling is gone.

Cooking the Dumplings

  1. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan.
  2. Place dumplings neatly in the pan and fry until the bottoms are golden brown.
  3. Mix about 1 teaspoon of flour with ½ cup of water, pour the mixture in the pan and cover.
  4. Let steam for 3 minutes.
  5. Serve hot and alongside your fave dumpling sauce (such as Soph’s Chilli Oil or Mum’s Dumpling Sauce).

Enjoy! I dare you to make this and tag me in ur pics x
